What’s next?

Many patients assume that once they are missing their teeth, they are done seeing the dentist.  Patients should still see their dentist once a year for an oral cancer screening (similar to visiting the dermatologist for mole checks).  The dentist will make sure all of the tissues, including the gums, tongue, roof of the mouth and tonsils, are healthy.  This exam also includes a massage of the neck and face to check for "lumps and bumps."
