Many patients ask, "Is my crown/bridge permanent?" A well-made crown or bridge should last a patient many years, but a lot of it depends on the way a patient takes care of it.  Crowns, bridges (and fillings for that matter), still require good homecare such as brushing and flossing, and use of additional fluoride in some patients.  Although the tooth is covered by metal and/or porcelain, it is still tooth structure underneath and it can still get a cavity.
