INFANTS'  AND CHILDREN’S DENTISTRY

When should my child first see a dentist?

Infants should first see a dentist within six months of eruption of their first tooth.  This first visit to the dentist allows the dentist to do a quick peek in the mouth, evaluating gums and other tissues.  The main component of the first visit includes dietary and oral hygiene education for the parents.  This visit also establishes a routine with the child; by the time the child is a toddler, he or she is already accustomed to visiting the dentist and opening wide!
