Meet The Staff

Dr. Jessica Lawson was raised in West Des Moines, Iowa and is a 1999 graduate of Valley High School. Dr. Lawson attended the University of Iowa for her undergraduate education where she took pre-dental classes and received a bachelor’s degree in Spanish; her foreign language education included studying abroad in Spain.

Dr. Lawson attended dental school at the University of Iowa and graduated in 2007, being inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon dental honor society. While in dental school, Dr. Lawson was active in dental research, student government and organized a dental mission trip to Costa Rica to work on underprivileged children.

Dr. Lawson is a member of the Des Moines District Dental Society, the Iowa Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Chicago Dental Society, and is treasurer of the Central Iowa Chapter of the American Association of Women Dentists. Dr. Lawson gets great pleasure in participating in 'Give Kids A Smile Day' as well as the Smile Squad (children's dental access programs). She also enjoys volunteering her time for patients at Emeritus Assisted Living. Dr. Lawson looks forward to taking her team on a donated dental mission trip in the near future.

Dr. Lawson enjoys all aspects of dentistry and the variety it has to offer; she gets great joy out of providing care to the entire family.

Dr. Jessica Lawson and her husband, Bryan, live in West Des Moines. They have two sons who like to keep them on their toes and provide constant entertainment! Outside of dentistry, Dr. Lawson and her husband enjoy running in half-marathons, watching the Cubs and Hawkeyes, and being active in their church.

Ashley Fandel joined Lawson Family Dentistry in January 2010. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 2006 with a degree in elementary education. Ashley has been working in the dental field since 2008 and serves as our office manager. She thoroughly enjoys working with and getting to know our patients as well as educating herself on dental procedures and terminology. Ashley's caring and friendly attitude, dental knowledge and strong organizational skills are wondeful assets to our team. Outside of the office Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs. She also enjoys exercising, shopping, traveling, Chicago Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with family and friends.

Mckayla Schroeder attended Hawkeye Community College where she earned a degree in dental hygiene and became a Registered Dental Hygienist in July of 2009.  In her dental hygiene class she received the golden scaler award - recognition of an outstanding clinician.  Mckayla  is also a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA). She was born and raised in Wall Lake, a small town in Western Iowa.  Mckayla moved to West Des Moines in the Summer of 2009 and is really enjoying the city.  In her free time she enjoys reading, cooking, and spending as much time as possible with her friends and family.
